Safer Festive Season operations clamping down on drug peddlers

PORT ELIZABETH – Safer festive season operations across Nelson Mandela Bay Metro is yielding positive results and drug pedlars are warned that law enforcement officers will be coming down ‘ hard and fast’ on them.

In an intelligence led operation, a 37-year-old Bethelsdorp woman was arrested during the early hours of this morning, 14 December 2019, for dealing in drugs. A search warrant was executed at her Pincushion Street house in Ext 31 in Bethelsdorp.

The following amount of drugs were seized:

197 mandrax tablets

4 packets of cocaine weighing 78,5g

Khat (5,5g)

Over R31 000 cash

Two firearms (.38 special and a 9mm pistol) and a cellphone belonging to the accused person was also confiscated. An enquiry docket was opened in relation to the firearms.

The estimated street value of the drugs is R10 300.

In other operations across the metro, also intelligence driven, a 40-year-old woman was arrested in Hlahala Street in Ikamvelihle for dealing in drugs. Small amount of tik, dagga and some cash was confiscated.

Multi-disciplinary focussed driven operations are conducted on a 24 hour basis across the metro and lawbreakers are warned that there will be no mercy or sympathy for them during this festive season.
