The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue to work tirelessly during this festive season period as an implementation of practical tactics to ensure safer environment for all the citizens of this Province.
Operation Quiet Storm, which were up and running until this morning, have led to the apprehension of more than sixty (60) suspects for serious charges in a number of Clusters, especially in the crime infested areas.
In the Makhado Cluster, three (03) suspects, aged between 26 and 32 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of firearm without license following positive tip-offs about a stolen Mercedes-Benz that was hidden in a certain house at Mudimeli village. The other suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms in Louis Trichardt town and in the Waterval policing area.
Meanwhile in the Mankweng Cluster, the Police have arrested four (04) suspects aged 18 and 21 for armed robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties. In the Thohoyandou Cluster, twelve (12) suspects aged between 21 and 28 were arrested for burglary residential, burglary business and house robbery. In the Polokwane Cluster, five (05) people were arrested for human trafficking, dealing in prostitution, possession of suspected stolen goods and bribery. The arrests emanated from a joint operation composed of the specialised units and during the arrest, goods with the estimated valued of R100 000-00 were seized.
In addition, in the Polokwane, Lephalale, Bela Bela, Mahwelereng, Bolobedu, Burgersfort, Phalaborwa and Tzaneen Policing areas, 40 suspects involved in various serious crimes which include, possession of drugs (nyaope) Possession of stolen motor vehicles, possession of dangerous weapon, murder, attempted murder, pointing of firearm, Car hijacking and common robberies, were arrested.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has applauded these Teams of members for the sterling work done and has encouraged all the members to work hard in order to sustain the zero tolerance for any criminal activity throughout the Province.
The Provincial Commissioner has further hailed members of the community who continue to work closely with the Police by providing quality and reliable information at all times which contributed immensely in these successes.
All the arrested suspects will still appear before various Magistrate courts soon.
The operations will continue until the end of the Festive season period.
