SAPS Mount Road arrest alleged housebreaking suspects

Gqeberha: SAPS Mount Road with the assistance from the community arrested two suspects on charges of housebreaking and theft on Saturday 1 October 2022.

It is alleged that on Saturday at approximately 09:30, SAPS Mount Road members attended to a complaint of housebreaking in Elm Street, Steylerville Township. The information relating to the house breaking were circulated on a community group and patrollers in the area visited a second hand shop to make enquiries. While at the shop, two suspects entered the premises with property they wanted to sell. The patrollers noticed that the property could be the same as the property that was stolen in the housebreaking case. The SAPS Mount Road vehicle returned to the complainant and he identified his property. Both suspects were detained on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

On the same day at approximately 11:50, SAPS Mount Road attended to another complaint in Pretorius Street, Parsonshill of another house breaking at a guest house. The complainant alleged that she unlocked the front door and later she heard that the door was opened and shortly afterwards it was closed again. She went to investigate when she saw the one suspect walking out of the yard carrying something. Upon further investigation she noticed that a TV and laptop was taken. She provided the members with a description of the suspect.

While at Mount Road police station, the members were busy with the registration of the case docket when they noticed that the one suspect that the members were busy processing for the house breaking in Elm Street, fitted the description of the suspect involved in the housebreaking at Pretorius Street.
