PRETORIA – The vigilant, efforts to reclaim and fight the scourge of drugs continues to yield positive results in Pretoria Central.

In the past three days, SAPS Pretoria Central Crime Prevention Unit members arrested more than twelve suspects, aged between 23 and 35, among those arrests five for dealing in drugs.

This morning at about 06:30, at Home Affairs Eskia Mphahlele Street, Crime Prevention Unit members, while monitoring hotspots within the CBD, spotted three males who were in the process or robbing an unsuspecting victim.

Police swiftly responded, confronted the suspects and arrested one suspect (37) who was in possession of a knife and while the others fled on foot.

On Monday, 14 October 2019, an additional five suspects were arrested for dealing in and possession of drugs.

At Drakensberg Flats, corner of Nana Sita and Paul Kruger Streets, SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members spotted two suspicious males. Upon noticing the police, the suspects started to run. Police gave chase and two suspects aged 29 and 33 were found with drugs.

In an unrelated incident, while police were conducting stop and search duties in Thabo Sehume Street, members managed to arrest three more suspects for dealing in drugs.

Three suspects, Samuel Mbise (31), Chati Muhanga (36) and Muhame Hamsa (23) appeared before the local Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 15 October 2019, for dealing in drugs.

Crime Prevention Unit Members were on patrol and noticed drug dealing activity at the entrance of a flat at Paul Kruger and Skinner Streets. The members immediately approached the suspects and proceeded to a flat where upon a search, drugs were found. The trio were arrested for dealing in Narcotics.

The Station Commander for Pretoria Central, Brigadier Moses Dladla said SAPS will continue to fight the scourge of drugs in Pretoria Central. In this month of October, more than forty suspects were arrested for dealing in and possession of drugs. There is no space for drug peddlers in the CBD.
