Pretoria: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has announced an incoming surface high-pressure system expected to extend its influence into the eastern and southern regions of the country this week. This meteorological pattern is anticipated to result in isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, affecting various parts of South Africa.
According to South African Government News Agency, Monday's weather forecast predicts partly cloudy skies accompanied by windy and cool to warm temperatures. The weather service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, warning of potential heavy downpours, hail, and excessive lightning. These weather conditions pose a risk of localized flooding and possible damage to infrastructure and settlements, particularly in the KwaZulu-Natal area.
Furthermore, the SAWS has alerted the public to extremely high fire danger conditions in the Northern Cape's Nama Khoi Municipality. As the week progresses, the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday suggests the continuation of partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions, with ongoing isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers expected in various regions.
