Sentence received for rape and theft in Galeshewe

NORTHERN CAPE – A 23-year-old-man in Galeshewe was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for rape and theft in the Galeshewe Regional Court, recently.

During the evening of 27 November 2017 a 28-year-old female victim woke up where she was sleeping at her friend’s house in, Galeshewe. She was accosted and raped by the accused who managed to flee with her handbag and other valuables. On 28 November 2017, the accused known as Kaelo Seocoareng, was arrested and made his first appearance in court on 30 December 2017. On the 22 November 2019 the accused was found guilty on charges of rape and theft and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
