Several suspects apprehended for various crimes

WESTERN CAPE – In ensuring that we maintain our commitment to serve the communities in this province with pride, police conducted various crime prevention operations and they yielded good results. This morning members from Harare SAPS recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen during a house robbery that took place in Mfuleni last night. The SAPS members working together with members from the vehicle tracking company conducted preliminary investigations and it led them to an address at Enkanini informal settlement, Khayelitsha. The members found four occupants inside a vehicle, as soon they saw a police vehicle approach they fled the scene. The members arrested one suspect, upon conducting a search in the vehicle the members found a total of 32 rounds of ammunition, four handbags, eight cellular phones, wallets and lunch boxes.

A 29-year-old suspect was arrested while other suspects are still on the run and he is expected to make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrate Court for possession of presumed stolen property and imitation firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated occurrence the alert members of Delft SAPS arrested a 56-year-old male who was found in possession of illegal substances at a house premises in Nile Street in Leiden, Delft this morning at about 08:15. The vigilant members acted on information they received about the illegal drug trade that is operated in the area and upon their arrival at the premises a search was conducted and a total of 290 mandrax tablets worth an estimated street value of R8700 00-00 were seized.

A 56-year-old male was arrested and he is expected to make a court appearance in the Bellville Magistrate Court for possession of dealing in drugs.

Meanwhile in Nyanga last night two suspects aged 36 and 41 were arrested after they were found in possession of mandrax in New Rest Informal Settlement Lusaka. The members were busy with crime prevention duties in the area and busted two suspects with 128 mandrax tablets and fake motor registration number plates in their position. Both suspects are expected to make a court appearance once charged.

Another suspect aged 23 was also arrested last night for a case of murder he allegedly committed in November 2018 and he is expected in the Athlone Magistrate Court tomorrow on a charge of murder.
