Victoria: H.E. Mr. Carlos Federico Feo Acevedo, Ambassador-designate of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Seychelles, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, as part of his accreditation visit.

According to African Press Organization, the meeting reaffirmed the longstanding diplomatic relations and bonds of friendship between Seychelles and Venezuela. Both dignitaries acknowledged the solidarity demonstrated by the Government of Seychelles following the earthquakes that affected Venezuela in June this year.

Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with both parties reviewing progress towards a Visa Waiver Agreement and exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest. These areas include the Blue Economy, fisheries, climate change, energy, tourism, and education. Emphasis was placed on fostering cooperation through capacity-building initiatives, technical exchanges, and the sharing of knowledge and best practices.

The meeting also underscored the shared commitment of Seychelles and Venezuela to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both nations have integrated these goals into their national development strategies, focusing on ocean governance, sustainable tourism, renewable energy, and inclusive economic growth.

H.E. Mr. Feo Acevedo will become the third Ambassador of Venezuela accredited to Seychelles and will be resident in Pretoria, South Africa. Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Seychelles were established on 15 April 1991.
