Shebeen owner found with fraudulent licence, behind bars and shebeens closed down: Kuruman

Vigilant Police officers from Batlharos police station caught 36-year-old shebeen King with his pants down, when they found him in possession of fraudulent occasional liquor licence. The suspect was arrested on Christmas day during compliance inspection by Designated Police Officer (DPO) and members of Visible Police accompanied by the Station Commander. Compliance inspection was conducted in and around Batlharos and Maruping villages.

During inspection it was established that the occasional licence that which the shebeen owner was in possession of has lot of discrepancies. Police continued to confiscate his liquor and fridges as he was illegally dealing in liquor.

Two more shebeens were raided and shut down. Owners were issued with fines to the value of R1500 each for dealing in liquor without valid licences. Safer Festive Operation will continue to bring the perpetrators of crime to book.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean commended the vigilance of members and encouraged them to continue to uproot criminal activities within our communities.
