MTHATHA – In a concerted effort to break the backbone of crime, an anti-crime operation was held at Mthatha, closing all entry points on Friday, 05 March 2021.
During the roadblock at least 202 vehicles and 511 people were searched and as a result six suspects were arrested.
A 26-year-old male suspect was charged for dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs after he was found in possession of 55 sachets of tik, a plastic of Boss Pills including a cash amount of R550-00.
A 21-year-old male was charged for dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs after he was found in possession of 28 sachets of tik.
A 34-year-old male suspect was charged for dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of 5 sachets of tik plus R80-00.
A 34-year-old male suspect was charged for dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs after he was found in possession of 43 sachets of tik.
A 24-year-old male suspect was charged for dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs after he was found in possession of 9 sachets of tik.
A 49-year-old male was arrested for dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs after he was found with one big sachet of tik.
The following dangerous weapons were confiscated:
3 x Bush knives
6 x okapi knives
2 x stainless steel knives
1 x grass tool
Thirty traffic fines to the value of R30600-00 were issued at King Sabata Dalindyebo Traffic.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major Gen Kanuka commended the members for the arrest.
