Six suspects arrested for attempted business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

WESTERN CAPE In our efforts to eliminate criminal elements in our communities, members attached to the Strand Crime Prevention Unit swiftly responded to a complaint about an attempted business robbery that took place last night, 23 June 2020 at around 20:30 in Lourens Street, Strand.
Upon noticing that the gate to the business premises had been opened, the complainant and another personnel were approached by six suspects in two vehicles, a white Ford Fiesta and a Toyota Hilux bakkie. The suspects pointed the complainant with a firearm while the other personnel pressed the panic button to notify security services. The suspects fled the scene, but were later apprehended by police members. Nothing was taken from the premises, however, a .38 Special Taurus firearm and several rounds of ammunition were found in the suspects’ possession.
All six suspects, aged between 23 and 39 years old, are expected to appear in court soon on attempted business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition charges.
