South Africa: ANC NEC to Meet in Scheduled NEC Meeting 30th September to 2nd October 2016

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) will meet in a scheduled meeting on the 30th September to the 2nd October 2016 at the St. Georges Hotel, Irene, Gauteng.

The meeting will receive, amongst others, standing agenda items that include the President’s Overview and the National Working Committee (NWC) to the NEC. The President’s Overview assesses political and governance issues and guides focus of the NEC, while the NWC report accounts for the day-to-day work of managing the organisaiton and oversight on government. The NEC is further expected to receive a report back on the post election analysis and engagement that has been undertaken by structures of the organisation to date, in preparation for broader consultation with communities and society at large.

Going into the NEC meeting, the ANC remains committed to ensuring open, frank and robust engagements and resolute action on the challenges and opportunities the current epoch presents to our movement. We do so further cognizant of the resolution of the last NEC meeting which tasked the National Officials and the NWC to take urgent measures to rid the movement of factionalism across the board – including within the NEC. The ANC therefore strongly discourages any of its members or structures against preemptive, opportunistic and divisive public commentary on the expected deliberations of the NEC.
