South Africa: Minister Jeff Radede Hosts National Development Plan Imbizo, 11 Nov

The Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe will host an Imbizo during Government’s fifth National Imbizo Focus Week that will be held between 7 and 13 November 2016. The National Imbizo Focus Week is in principle a heightened period of engagement between members of the executive and communities.

The Imbizo will be held under the theme “Together we move South Africa forward: “Our future – make it work”, which has a content focus on the implementation of National Development Plan (NDP) Vision 2030. The NDP is a long term vision and plan for the country which outlines the work that needs to be done to achieve a prosperous society by 2030. The core priorities of the NDP are to reduce poverty, unemployment and inequality currently facing many South Africans.

The Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) is responsible to facilitate, influence and support effective planning, monitoring and evaluation of government programmes aimed at improving service delivery, outcomes and impact on society.

As part of the Imbizo, Minister Rabebe will undertake unannounced visits at various government service points as part of the DPME’s, Frontline Service Delivery Monitoring (FSDM) which seeks to instill the culture of self-monitoring in departments so that improvements on the quality of service delivery is realized, with an overall aim of advancing planning, accountability, responsibility and reporting through monitoring. He will also outline progress the DPME has made in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the NDP during the Imbizo.

The Minister will also be joined by the Mayor of Mogale City and representatives from the Gauteng Provincial government.
