Tembisa:The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, has praised Gauteng police for their rapid capture of a suspect connected to the murder of a woman. Her body was found at Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa on Saturday morning.
According to South African Government News Agency, the suspect allegedly fled to Tzaneen, Limpopo, following the murder. Police apprehended him on Saturday evening around 23:00.
Dimpane specifically acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various police units, including Crime Intelligence in the Ekurhuleni District, Tembisa South detectives, the Investigative Psychology Unit, experts from the Gauteng Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), and Bolobedu Police Station members. Their coordination and dedication led to the suspect's capture on the same day.
Dimpane emphasized the importance of this swift response, stating, "This is the kind of policing we expect from our members." He reiterated the SAPS's commitment to pursuing those involved in murder, gender-based violence, and femicide to ensure they face justice.
The police are continuing their investigation into other cases involving women's bodies found in Ekurhuleni, actively following all available leads.
