SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT APPOINTS GEN. SITOLE THE COUNTRY’S NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER

PRETORIA, South African President Jacob Zuma has appointed the Commissioner for Protection and Security Services of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Khehla John Sitole, as the country’s new National Police Commissioner with immediate effect.

In a statement issued here Wednesday, the Presidency said President Zuma had appointed Sitole with immediate effect.

The Presidency said Gen Sithole, who was born in Standerton in Mpumalanga Province, brings a wealth of operational and management experience to the SAPS.

It added that Gen Sitole had grown through the ranks of the police service and started as a constable until his promotion to Lieutenant-General in 2011.

President Zuma extended his gratitude and appreciation to Lesetja Mothiba who had been acting in the position.
