The Swapo Party Women ' s Council ( SPWC ) plans to release a book early next year that will tell the history of the party wing and the role women played in the liberation struggle . Members of the SPWC leadership from various regions on Wednesday gathered at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region to review a draft of the book . SPWC secretary , Fransina Kahungu said the book will also tell the story of how women have contributed to the development of Namibia since the inception of the SPWC as a wing of the ruling Swapo Party . The SPWC was established in 1969 and 1970 in Tanzania . Kahungu said the book will be launched at the beginning of 2025 in Windhoek . It will be titled ' The 54 years existence of the Swapo Party Women ' s Council - the toil of women , comforts the nation .' The SPWC leader said large portions of the book come from the letters , speeches and photographs archived by the Swapo party . Oral stories which were recorded from the founding members and former leaders of the SPWC have also bee n captured in the book , she said . Kahungu also announced during the gathering that she is a candidate to the Swapo Party electoral college set for this weekend in Windhoek . The meeting is being attended by the former SPWC secretary , Eunice Iipinge and her former deputy , Linea Shaetonhodi , as well as the former Secretary General of the Council of Churches in Namibia , Maria Kapere Source: The Namibia News Agency
