Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit Malmesbury success

WESTERN CAPE Partnership policing yielded yet another success when members of Malmesbury Stock Theft Unit, Riebeek West SAPS, Moorreesburg SAPS and Farm Watch members of several farms in the region worked together and arrested four stock theft suspects.

Early on Saturday morning, 05 October 2019, six suspects in a light delivery vehicle were stopped near Malansdam farm, in the Riebeek West area.

As soon as the vehicle came to a stop, the suspects jumped out and tried to flee the scene. Four were arrested and two fled.

Upon closer investigation, the vehicle had eight Merino stud Rams belonging to Malansdam farm with a value of R181 000-00 inside. The LDV vehicle used in this incident was reported stolen.

Charges of stock theft were registered at Riebeek West SAPS for further investigation. The suspects aged between 24 and 38 are due to appear at the Malmesbury Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 07 October 2019 on the mentioned charges.
