Summons served for selling counterfeit goods

KWAZULU-NATAL – On 7 December 2022, Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation served summons to the 35-year-old suspect to appear before court for displaying and selling counterfeit goods.
It is alleged that the suspect was selling counterfeit monopoly and janga games in his shop. A case of contravening the Counterfeit Goods Act was reported to the Hawks. A search and seizure operation was conducted at China Mall in South Beach, Durban.
Police seized counterfeit items valued at R58 100.00 and the suspect was charged for contravention of the Counterfeit Goods Act. He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 11 January 2023.
