KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: Willowvale Police arrested a 22-year-old man for attempted rape of a 59-year-old woman. The suspect was arrested at Maya Location, Nqadu Village, Willowvale on Thursday 07 March 2019. It is alleged that the suspect is the neighbour of the victim. He normally requests permission to sleep at the house of the victim and is allowed to sleep in the house of the victim but on a different bed.
On Sunday 03 March 2019 the suspect as usual went to sleep in the house of the victim at Maya Location, Nqadu Village, Willowvale. The victim woke up at about 230 on Sunday 03 March 2019 and found the suspect trying to rape her. She saw the suspect as the lights were not switched off. The victim fought back and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was traced and arrested on Thursday, 07 March 2019. He will be charged with attempted rape and will appear before the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday 11 March 2019. Butterworth Cluster Police is appealing to women to be cautious and not to allow strangers into their homes.
