Suspect arrested for business robbery and possession of two unlicensed firearms

JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL – Police in conjunction with JMPD and Rapid Response arrested a 32-year-old male for possession of suspected stolen cellphones, possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition at corner Bree and Troye Street on 21 November 2019 at 12:00.

It is alleged that five suspects robbed Total Sports Shop at Randburg this morning. They entered the shop pretending to be customers where they pointed staff with firearms. They took several cellphones from the safe before they fled the scene.

Cell phones were activated and led the police to Johannesburg Central area. They arrested one suspect inside a white Toyota Etios fitted with false number plates. Cell phones were also recovered inside the vehicle. Four suspects are still at large and investigation is under way. Suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
