Suspect arrested for possession of dagga in Heidelberg

A 34-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of dagga at Heidelberg Mall Gate 3 Parking Area (Long Distance Bus Rank) on Monday, 28 October 2019.

Police members were busy with their daily routine sector patrols when they received information of a man who loaded two suspicious sports bags alleged to be containing dagga.

Quick response by sector patrol members Cst Mack Makgahlela and Cst Siphokuhle Gwebushe led to the apprehension of the man and his two big sports bags. Police conducted searches in the two big sports bags. Refuse bags were found containing 43 compacted parcels of dagga. Police immediately arrested the man.

The Station Commander further encouraged community to report to the police all crimes committed or intended to be committed. She also further indicated and assured the community that all information provided will be treated with confidentiality.

The arrested suspect will appear in Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court soon.
