Suspect arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

KING WILLIAMS TOWN: Steve Vukile Tshwete Police members arrested a 35 year old male from Sidi Location, Border Post outside King Williams Town this morning at about 02h00.

Police followed up the information they received about a male that had a firearm in the village and went to his home. Upon arrival they found a male and searched the house with no success, upon investigation the suspect took Police to the place where he hide the firearm. Police recovered a 7.65 pistol and a magazine with three live ammunition. The serial number is not filed off but the firearm does not belong to the suspect.

The suspect was charged with Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear at Zwelitsha Magistrate Court soon.

The Station Commander of Steve Vukile Tshwete SAPS, Captain Zinakile Siphika thanked the community for sharing valuable information which led to the arrest of the suspect. Police swift response led to the arrest and confiscation of firearm and ammunition, and that prevented crime during this Festive Season, he added.
