Suspect arrested for stabbing boyfriend

Smithfield: A 22-year-old female suspect was arrested on Sunday, 7 February 2021 for allegedly killing her boyfriend at a farm near Smithfield.
According to information at about 11:00 the suspect and deceased were drinking liquor at their room on the farm and an argument ensued. The suspect took out a knife from the cupboard drawer and stabbed the deceased in the chest and he was certified dead on scene by Emergency Medical Services.
Other farm workers that heard the commotion informed the owner of the farm and he subsequently summoned the Police.
On arrival at the scene, a lifeless body of a 29-year-old farm worker was found lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound in the chest. A knife that was used to commit the crime was confiscated.
“We are very concern about the prevailing violence of people while under the influence of liquor.” Said the Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Baile Motswenyane. “We urge our people to socialise without any violent behaviour, as eventually someone has to pay with his/her life.” Concluded the Provincial Commissioner.
The suspect will make her first appearance before Smithfield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 09 February 2021 on a charge of murder.
