Suspect arrested for the assault on an elderly man

PORT ELIZABETH – PE Flying squad arrested a 26-year-old man today at approximately 09:30 at his residence in Colleen Glen after a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was reported on Friday.

It is alleged that on Friday in the afternoon, a 67-year-old man confronted a man on a quad bike for driving recklessly in the Sedan Street, Lorraine. The man was severely assaulted and at about 18:45 he went to Walmer police to report the incident however due to his nature of injuries, he needed immediate medical attention. The police have opened a case on behalf of the complainant.

The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate court on Monday 20/05.
