Suspect Arrested in Connection with Ekurhuleni Runner’s Belongings

Ekurhuleni:Police have arrested a man found in possession of an item allegedly belonging to Elizabeth Tsontso Moselakgomo, a runner who was recently murdered. Moselakgomo's body was discovered by police after she failed to return home from a run, prompting a search.

According to South African Government News Agency, the suspect is set to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court today. He is expected to face charges related to possession of stolen property, although no murder charges have been filed at this time. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.

Moselakgomo's death is part of a troubling pattern, as several women's bodies have been found in Ekurhuleni from July to September this year. In response, the government has assembled a high-level, multidisciplinary team to investigate the series of murders.

Last month, Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia emphasized the police's capacity to handle such cases, assuring the public of the political leadership's commitment to work closely with law enforcement agencies to achieve clarity and results for grieving families and concerned citizens.
