Suspect arrested in Harare with a firearm, another one arrested in Bishop Lavis with drugs and ammunition

WESTERN CAPE In our endeavours to disarm criminals in the Western Cape, members of Harare police were conducting crime prevention patrols this morning when they spotted a suspicious person in Gqoboka Street. The suspect was approached and searched, which led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition. Investigation revealed that the firearm was reported stolen in Nyanga during 2001. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested and is due to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha once he has been charged.

Meanwhile in an unrelated operation in Bishop Lavis last night, a 34-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of tik and ammunition. Members of the Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Unit reacted on information of drugs at the Blackberry Street residence of the suspect and conducted a search. The search was extended to the yard where the members discovered 94g of tik and 79 rounds of ammunition buried in the ground. The suspect is expected to make his court appearance in Bishop Lavis tomorrow.
