Western Cape: On Thursday, 24 January 2019 at about 00:40, a 30-year-old man was arrested with an unlicensed 7.65mm pistol with serial number removed in Roman Street, River View, Worcester after information was received from a community member.
Worcester SAPS members followed up the information and spotted the suspect with a firearm in his hand. On seeing the members the suspect threw it into the neighbouring premises. The suspect was arrested and members took him to where the firearm was and collect it in his presence.
He is expected to appear at the Worcester Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of prohibited firearm once charged.
In an unrelated matter a 23-year-old man was arrested with 97 tik sachets by police members attached to Worcester Cluster Fiela Team last night, (Wednesday, 2019-01-23) during an operation on charges of possession of drugs. The tik is estimated at R2 500.
He was detained on the mentioned charges and will appear at Bonnievale Magistrate Court once charged.
