Suspect arrested with drugs, unlicensed firearms and ammunition in Kraaifontein

WESTERN CAPE – Kraaifontein SAPS members arrested a 29-year-old male for possession of six unlicensed firearms, ammunition and drugs at 12:00 on Tuesday, 30 April 2019, in Duine Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein.

The members were following up on information received from the public that firearms and drugs are kept at a wooden structure at the back of the residence. The structure was searched and six unlicensed firearms were recovered. They also discovered around three thousand rounds of ammunition hidden in a backpack in another cupboard. Over six thousand mandrax tablets, with a street value of more than R250 000 were also discovered inside the structure.

The suspect was arrested and detained for the possession of unlicensed firearms, drugs and ammunition. He will appear in the Blue Downs District Court once he has been charged.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen KE Jula, congratulated the members for their good work and said that SAPS will continue with their crime fighting operations to disarm criminals in this province. He also thanked the community for the information and said that active community participation is pivotal in our fight against crime.
