Suspect behind bars for murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition

JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL – Trio detectives arrested a 32-year-old suspect for murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition corner Mooi and Albertina Sisulu Street on the 06th of May 2020 at 12:30.

Police were following up information about a silver Chevrolet involved in business robberies around the Johannesburg CBD. They saw a male coming out from the vehicle and he was cornered.  They recovered an unlicensed firearm with no serial and   live ammunition.  He resist to be arrested and his accomplice shot at the police, two bystanders where shot at.

One of the victim was taken to hospital by an ambulance while a 25-year-old male victim was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics.  He was shot once in the upper body.

One suspect is still at large and police investigation is under way. Firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was not used in the commission of serious and violent crimes.

Suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
