KING WILLIAM’S TOWN Excellent collaboration between a private security company and members from the South African Police Service in Kamesh led to the successful apprehension of a 35yearold male suspect and the confiscation of Ritebrand milk worth over R8 50000. During the raid that was steered at two shops in the Kamesh policing precinct today, Thursday, 16 January 2020 at 09:10, ten Ritebrand packets containing 6 x 1L milk (60L in total) were confiscated at a shop in Rosedale Drive. At the second shop in Cormorant Crescent, that also belongs to the same owner, 103 Ritebrand packets containing 6 x 1L milk (618L) and 119 loose one litre units, were confiscated. In total, 797L of milk was confiscated and the estimated value of the confiscated milk, that is exclusively manufactured for Shoprite, amounts to over R8 50000. Further investigations led the team to the original theft case that was registered at Swartkops SAPS in January 2019. The 35yearold male was arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and is due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court soon.
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll praised the team for the good work and warned the community not to buy stolen goods. Brigadier Koll said: Let us reject and report all stolen goods! Let us work together to close the market for stolen goods. It remains a crime and it is punishable by law so too is receiving stolen goods. Reject and report any goods you suspect could have been stolen to the police and let us break the chain of crime and invest in a safer South Africa.
