Suspect disarmed in Delft

The swift response by members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit landed a suspect behind bars for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Ravel Street, Delft South.

Last night, 04 October 2021 the members received information from the community about four suspects that are robbing people. They approached the scene on foot and upon arrival on the scene, they saw the suspects who fitted the description. When the suspects saw the police members approaching, they started to run, firing gunshots at the police members, the members fired back wounding one suspect. The 17-year-old suspect was apprehended and found in possession of 9mm Star pistol with ammunition.

Once charged, the suspect will make a court appearance in the Bellville Magistrate court on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, attempted murder and robbery.
