Suspect nabbed with illicit cigarettes and other items worth nearly R2 million

POLOKWANE – The police in Tzaneen have arrested a 32-year-old suspect this morning, 28 April 2020 at about 11:20, after he was found in possession of illicit cigarettes and sexual enhancing pills.

The arrest was effected during an intelligence driven joint operation comprising members of Tzaneen Crime Intelligence Unit and Cluster Detectives, activated soon after the information was received about this suspect which led them to a house in the CBD.

After a search was conducted at this house, 84 boxes containing illicit cigarettes, 1319 sexual performance enhancing pills and cash amount of more than R60 000(sixty thousand rand) were recovered. Furthermore four vehicles, a Ford Ranger, Audi, Crisler and Hyundai Elantra were confiscated. All the recovered goods are worth over R1,5 Million.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the members for acting promptly and arresting the suspect.

The suspect is expected to appear in Tzaneen magistrate’s court on Thursday 30 April 2020, on charges of possession of illicit cigarettes, Contravention of medicine and related substances control Act and selling of unregistered sexual enhancement medicine
