Police have opened three cases of murder and two cases of attempted murder after a shooting incident that occurred at one of the taxi ranks in Johannesburg on Thursday, 29 March 2018, at approximately 22:00.

It is alleged that an armed suspect shot at the victims without saying a word. Three of the victims were fatally wounded and the other two sustained injuries and taken to hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two of the deceased are taxi owners.

The motive for the shooting cannot be confirmed at this stage and the suspect is still at large.

Police investigation is continuing.
