Suspects arrested for destroying rail infrastructure

WESTERN CAPE – The consistent efforts by police members to bring the perpetrators who are responsible for destroying the rail infrastructure to book, yielded success when two suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 26 January 2022.

Members of the Flying Squad were part of an intelligence driven operation at around 05:00 when they spotted a white delivery vehicle in Groot Drakenstein, Paarl East. A police chase ensued after which the vehicle was stopped next to the railway station in Brackenfell. Upon inspection members confiscated copper cables with an estimated street value of R36 000. Two males aged 25 and 26 were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of stolen property.

Once charged the duo are expected to make a court appearance in the Paarl Magistrates court on the mentioned charge.
