Kensington SAPS executed numerous intelligent driven operations which include intense observations at identified problematic drug outlets which lead to outstanding successes
At one address in Matroos Square drugs were confiscated on Thursday 2019-01-03 with an estimated street value of R50 000 known to be 20 grams of tik,100 mandrax tablets and 150 sachets of tik. Members arrested a 27 year old male on a charge of possession of drugs.
The following day (Friday, 2019-01-04) information from the public lead to conducting observational duties in Skepe Square, Factreton where a 31-year-old male was arrested for being in possession of eight mandrax tablets, four halve madrax tablets, 19 sachets of dagga and 25 dagga cigarettes.
In an unrelated matter members of Operation Thunder last night arrested a 23-year-old female at a premises in Twickenham Street, Mitchells Plain. Members followed up on information that drugs are being stored and sold at the mentioned address. They acted swiftly and found 113 straws of tik and confiscated it.
Members of Bishop Lavis SAPS, with the assistance of National POPS took to the street on Friday 04 January 2019 on foot. The members did stop and search operations in the area of the notorious Agste Laan, Bishop Lavis area.
Success came when they entered an address with a search warrant and arrested a 42 year old male. He was found in possession of:
40 sachets of Dagga
12 dagga cigarettes
80 mandrax tablets
One green bag filled with dagga
Possession of presumable stolen second hand goods with a mass of 99.5 kg
Once charged, these suspects will appear in the Cape Town, Mitchells Plain and Bishop Lavis Magistrates Courts respectively on charges related to possession of drugs and illegal possession of Second hand goods 2009/Act 6 of 2009.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula commended the members who prevented drugs from reaching the streets and destroy lives. He also praised the communities in always furnishing the SAPS with information.
