Suspects arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition in Lwandle

WESTERN CAPE – A thorough investigation by Lwandle detectives and Crime Prevention Unit members on Thursday, 23 May 2019 led to the arrest of nine suspects as they were tasked to trace house robbery and murder suspects.

Seven of those suspects between the ages of 20 and 27 were arrested at one address in Pholile Informal Settlement. Police searched the house and found one illegal firearm with ammunition and a toy gun.

A case of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition was opened. Police detectives are hard at work trying to link these suspects with house robbery incidents occurred in Lwandle.

Another two suspects, aged 26 and 27 were arrested for an attempted murder incident which allegedly occurred on 02 May 2019 in Lwandle. The complainant was shot in the left leg after he had an argument with the two suspects.

All the arrested suspects are due to appear in the Strand Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 May 2019 on the above mentioned charges.

The members were commended for their sterling efforts in arresting the suspects.
