Suspects arrested for possession of stolen property

Hekpoort- Two male suspects were arrested for possession of stolen chickens on Friday 2019-10-18 at approximately 02:00.

The arrest came after Oostermoed Security notified the police about the suspicious vehicle that was loading the crates full of chickens at night.

Police followed up information and found the vehicle driving towards Krugersdorp. When they saw the police van, they sped off.

Police together with security guards gave a chase and managed to stop the suspects next to the N14.

They searched the vehicle, white Nissan Corsa and found crates full of slaughtered chickens of about 300.

The suspects claimed that they bought it, but they failed to produce proof of purchase to the police.

They questioned them and ended up confessing to them that the truck driver that was transporting chickens gave them. They are selling the chickens and share the profit.

Police arrested both suspects aged 27 and 34 years old for Possession of stolen property. Suspects will appear at Krugersdorp Magistrate Court soon.

Acting Station Commander of Hekpoort SAPS Warrant Officer Frederick Botma commended the members for their positive response. He also applauded the security for their vigilance and commitment in keeping Hekpoort safe.
