Suspects arrested in weekend operations

EASTERN CAPE – Concerted efforts by Police in the Cradock policing precinct through the strategic deployment of integrated forces on the ground ensured that suspects were arrested between Thursday, 15 April 2021 and Sunday, 18 April 2021.

These arrests represent various criminal offences, ranging from petty to Contravention of the DMA (Disaster Management Act) Covid-19 Regulations and other serious crimes since the start of this weekend whilst four (4) arrests were wanted suspects on serious crimes for whom warrants of arrests were issued by the court.

This weekend’s operations included high visibility patrols in crime stricken areas, stop and search operations with a special focus on drug and outlets, the tracing of wanted suspects and the confiscation of dangerous weapons.

Eight (8) suspects were arrested for small quantities of drugs, Mandrax and Tik as well as dangerous weapons.

Most of the arrested suspects will make their court appearance in the Cradock Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 April 2021, once charged.

The Station Commander of Cradock Police Station, Colonel Ruth Slater commended the members for their vigilance in bringing these perpetrators to book. She said that although seem insignificant, minor crimes such as the confiscation of these dangerous weapons indeed prevented the commission of other serious crimes such as Murders, Robberies, serous assaults and Domestic-related violence. She applauded the members for their efforts that contributed to a safer weekend for the community in the Cradock policing precincts.
