WESTERN CAPE Efforts to ensure the safety of the community, led to arrest of an armed suspects during the early hours of this morning in Gugulethu. SAPS members responded to a shooting incident in NY 50 and spotted the suspect fleeing the scene. The 35-year-old man was cornered and arrested with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in his possession.

In an unrelated incident yesterday, a 41-year-old man was arrested in Nyanga for house robbery. Three suspects perpetrated a robbery at a residence and fled with household goods and two television sets. The driver of the getaway vehicle was apprehended and detained. His two accomplices evaded arrest and are being sought.

The suspects are expected to make court appearances in Athlone tomorrow.
