Suspects nabbed during weekend crime prevention operations

KING WILLIAM’S TOWN – Police arrested over 40 suspects aged between 19 and 53 over the weekend. Police, during their operations, managed to arrest these suspects for criminal offences ranging from common assault, attempted rape, business robbery, contravention of protection order, burglary and theft, driving under the influence of alcohol, drunk and disorderly, Malicious damage to property and possession of dagga.

Police received information from a community member about a house that sells dagga and upon arrival, members searched the house and found bags of dagga, the suspect was then arrested. In a separate incident Police also arrested one male suspect who was found in possession of a stolen Plasma television. Police also confiscated dangerous weapons during stop and searches conducted during crime prevention operations.

All suspects will appear in various Courts today and tomorrow.

King William’s Town SAPS Cluster Commander Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga applauded the members for the arrests and encouraged the members to continue to do more in ensuring that criminals are behind bars Let us create a safe and secure environment for our communities he added.
