Suspects nabbed in multi-disciplinary operations

DURBAN � Operations that were conducted by police stations within the Amajuba Cluster yesterday resulted in wanted suspects being arrested. Newcastle police arrested a 51-year-old for three cases of housebreaking and theft that he committed between January and July 2018. The suspect targeted premises in the Newcastle CBD where he allegedly stole copper pipes, garden tools and other property.

A 65-year-old suspect was arrested in the Normandien policing precinct for driving under the influence of liquor and bribery after he offered police officers cash for his release. Both suspects will appear in the Newcastle Magistrates Court soon.

In the Ingogo policing precinct, police executed a warrant of arrest on a 27-year-old man. The accused was sought after he failed to appear at the Newcastle Magistrates Court in February 2019. He was arrested in June 2018 for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance as well as reckless and negligent driving. He is accused of driving along the N11 freeway where he allegedly lost control of his vehicle resulting in his passengers sustaining serious injuries.

Three suspects were arrested at Madadeni and Osizweni for possession of drugs, pointing of a firearm and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Police seized mandrax tablets with a combined street value of R20, 000-00. The suspects will appear in court soon.
