Suspects remanded in custody for robbery

DURBAN – One Monday, 13 June 2022, eight suspects entered a business in Hill Street at Pinetown and held up the employees at gunpoint. It is alleged that the suspects stole cash and cellphones before they fled the scene.
Police responded swiftly and the suspects were tracked to M Section in KwaMashu. They recovered two vehicles and later it was established one of the vehicles was linked to numerous house robberies that have been reported recently as well as an attempted murder. The second vehicle was hijacked in Berea area early this month. The police officers also recovered forty six cellphones.
Police then proceeded to a house in J Section. The house was searched and police found various brands of watches valued at R70 000. Six suspects were aged 18 and 43 were arrested and appeared before the Ntuzuma Magistrates Court. They were remanded in custody and on Monday they will put through an identification parade.
