Teacher to appear before court for child neglect and kidnapping

A 30-year-old teacher from Blackhill Primary School situated at KwaGuqa Township, near Witbank, will appear at the Witbank Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 25 February 2019, on charges of child neglect and kidnapping.

The teacher’s appearance stems from an unfortunate incident at which she is reported to have locked up a grade one learner in a strong room, apparently as a form of punishment and forgot him there.

The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday, 21 February 2019 and the victim had to spend the night in that facility whilst his parents searched frantically for him, but to no avail. The parents ended up filing a missing person’s report at the Vosman Police Station.

News broke the following morning that the boy was not missing but the reality of what actually happened transpired, as a result, police then acted swiftly and arrested the suspect on Friday, 22 February 2019, after a case was opened, hence her expected appearance in court tomorrow.
