North west: The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) has issued an advisory to road users regarding temporary Stop/Go road closures on the National Road R52, Section 3, from Koster to N4 Rustenburg. These closures are necessitated by blasting activities and are scheduled to take place during daylight hours.
According to South African Government News Agency, the closures are essential for facilitating road improvement works. SANRAL has urged road users to plan their journeys in advance to accommodate these road upgrades, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing the safety and quality of national roads. Road users are requested to adhere to traffic accommodation signage and flag persons’ warnings for the safety of both themselves and construction workers within the work zones.
The specific details of the closures are as follows: they will occur on August 21 and 22, 2025, between kilometers 6.5 and 7.2, from 12:00 to 16:00. A Stop/Go traffic management system will be in place, which could lead to delays of up to 30 minutes during peak hours. Closure lengths may vary but should not exceed 5 kilometers unless required for safety reasons.
SANRAL has apologized for any inconvenience caused during this period.
