Temporary shut-down of water supply to the Strandfontein area

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting a temporary shut down of the water supply in the Strandfontein area to test the valves ahead of an actual shutdown.

The test will run for approximately two to three hours on 16 October 2019 at 10:00, ahead of the actual shutdown on 26 October 2019 in order to test the working conditions of the City’s isolation and scour valves on the bulk water pipeline.

The work conducted is in preparation for the tie-in on the bulk water pipeline that is proposed for the Strandfontein West injection point (located in Strandfontein Road at Punt Road).

All taps should be kept closed during this period to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored. Residents are kindly requested to store water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period if required.
