Thieves caught removing copper cable at railway line

DURBAN: Last night, police officers and other law enforcement agencies were conducting patrols along the Shakaskraal Railway line when they spotted three men cutting copper cables on the railway line. The team tactically pounced on them.

Three suspects aged between 30 and 33 were placed under arrest after they were found in possession of 84 metres copper cables. They are expected to appear before the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court on Monday, 8 March 2021 on charges of damaging and tampering essential infrastructure.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya commended the team for the arrest of the culprits.
