POLOKWANE – In an effort to turn the crime situation around in Thohoyandou policing precinct, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has appointed Brigadier Mmboneni Simon Mukwevho as the new Station Commander at the level of Brigadier with effect from 01 December 2022.

Brigadier Mukwevho was previously the Station Commander of Musina and he now replaces Brigadier Isaac Mantjane who has since been redeployed to the Provincial Head of Police Emergency Services (PES).

Brigadier Mukwevho has extensive experience in the Police Services, and there is no doubt that the new “Sheriff in town” will add value to the safety and security of the people of Thohoyandou.

Brigadier Mukwevho (55) has 32 years’ experience in the police Service. Some of his previous roles included the Unit Commander of the K9 unit in Thohoyandou. He also served as Head of the K9 unit in Vhembe and was in charge of the Flying Squad and the 10111 unit. He had also been previously in charge of Visible Policing in Makhado zone with 11 Police Station’s under his Command. His other previous roles included being Head of the Task team in Thohoyandou and Unit Commander at Polokwane International airport. He also served as the Coordinator of Visible Policing in the Makhado Cluster. He had also in the past been deployed to stabilize identified Criminal hotspots in Seshego and Ritavi.

The Provincial Management reaffirms their commitment to address Crime situations in this area. This as it was listed as the third Police Station in the Country with high cases of sexual offences. The Police Station’ is also one of the Top-30 Police Station’s in the Country as far as robberies at residential houses is concerned.

The Provincial Commissioner wished Brigadier Mukwevho well in his new role and applauded him for always having the mind of a senior who is always ready to fill the gap without even questioning who opened it and why.

“I feel very honoured to have been deployed to Thohoyandou, because I have dedicated my life to the fight against crime. I call on community members in general and relevant community structures in particular, to support our endeavors to change the crime situation in Thohoyandou” said Brigadier Mukwevho.

“Strong community policing forums are a necessity in the fight against crime. My first approach will be meeting representatives of community stakeholders, businesspeople and community members to deliberate on ways to restore this area to its former glory” Concluded Brigadier Mukwevho.
