Three criminals given hefty jail terms

The South African Police Service in Limpopo has joyfully welcomed the convictions and sentencing imposed on three men accused of serious and violent crimes which occurred during two separate incidents to a consolidated prison term of 38 years imprisonment.

Thabang Maleka aged 24 and Kabelo Mashilo aged 26, were each sentenced to an effective ten (10) years imprisonment by the Polokwane High Court this week for house robbery.

This sentences follows the incident which occurred on 26 May 2017 at about 22:00, at Manapsane Mshongoville village in the Motetema Policing area outside Groblesdal. During this ordeal, a 48-year-old woman was attacked at her home by three armed men.

The intruders pointed the victim with firearms and demanded money, afterwards, she was assaulted with a firearm on her head forcing her to comply with their instructions in front of her two children.

The suspects managed to get away with her wedding ring and cash money of R200-00 (Two hundred rands).

Members of the Provincial Tracking Team through their intensive investigations, have successfully tracked down these suspects at Motetema location within a short space of time.

During the arrest, these suspects were called to surrender by the Police but they opted to resist and instead, they shot at the Police who retaliated and subsequently three suspects were arrested and two of them were taken to hospital after suffering gunshot wounds.

One of the two suspects had his leg amputated due to the extent of the injuries sustained.
