Three men nabbed with firearms

DURBAN Today, Esikhaleni police conducted an operation on the N2 freeway to curb criminal activities in the area and keep the freeway safe for motorists, passengers and other community members during this festive season.

Police stopped a vehicle with three occupants and a search was conducted. Three firearms with ammunition, balaclavas and cellphones were recovered from the vehicle and the occupants could not provide satisfactory information on the recovered items. They were all arrested and they will be charged for illegal possession of firearms as well as ammunition. The suspects will appear in the Esikhaleni Magistrates Court soon and will also be profiled if they can be linked to pending cases.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers on their alertness which led to the recoveries and the arrests.
