Three suspects arrested for possession of stolen property

Our relentless endeavours to reduce crime in Western Cape communities was met with a favourable result when members attached to Atlantis SAPS arrested three male suspects who were found in possession of stolen property. The arrest was preceded by a burglary incident that occurred last week Tuesday, 22 October 2019, at around 14:00 on a farm in Atlantis. According to police reports, a female worker had locked the residence at the mentioned address to go out for lunch and had consequently left it unattended. Upon her arrival, she discovered that someone had broken into the residence. The worker was threatened by one of the suspects with a sharp object, however she managed to get away and went to find help. The South African Police Service K9 Unit was called in to assist as it was believed that the suspects had fled into the nearby bushes with the stolen property. All traces were followed but with no success.

As the investigation progressed, additional information was received which led to the arrest of one suspect who was detained and questioned about the incident. Yesterday, 29 October 2019, at around 14:00 members made their way to Chatsworth, Atlantis to follow up on the information. When they arrived they entered the premises and found the stolen property, estimated to be worth R100 000, inside and members subsequently arrested two more suspects. The property was handed back to the owner after it was positively identified.
